Hi, I’m Wendy O’Dell Callaway
I’ve been self employed, run my own companies and lived overseas, so I’ve been there and done it. Getting your head around the tax system is not easy – ask my husband. After nearly 25 years of marriage, his advice is marry an accountant! But as that isn’t an option for everybody, why not ask me to help?
Why I Created an Accounting Service That’s Different
I am a UK-qualified Chartered Certified Accountant, who is an expert in Expat Taxes, with over 30 years of experience helping clients just like you (meaning I started this when I was still at school!). Having lived overseas myself for a few years, I completely understand the complexities and stresses of dealing with tax, especially if you are unlucky enough to have to do more than one return a year.
As well as a lot of personal tax knowledge I have run my own businesses, managed large teams of staff, and worked as the finance director for some multi million pound companies, so I have great all round knowledge and experience.
Why Hippo?
Now you are probably wondering why I called my company Hippo – if you’re not, you may want to skip the next bit.
- Firstly, accountancy is often a grey area, and when working with you, we aim to make it as simple as possible so you are as happy as a hippo in mud.
- Secondly, I love to travel and wanted to incorporate that into my company somehow, Africa is one of my favourite places, it’s a magical kind of place
- And thirdly, and I think most importantly, hippos are one of my favourite animals, I mean who doesn’t like a water horse?
Hippo has grown from just me sitting in my home office alone a few years ago to now having an amazing team of accounting and tax experts who will work with you to ensure you get the best service possible.
Our passion is working closely with clients, helping them to understand the tax minefield that lies before them, and by being experts, we are able to do this.
We don’t use terminology that only accountants understand, and remember, nothing is a stupid question – we are happy to answer anything. You can probably tell that we are not your average accountants, but is that a bad thing?
